31-year-old arrested in Catania for soliciting a minor for online sex
In the context of activities aimed at protecting minors and vulnerable groups, the Cyber Security Operational Center of Catania arrested a 31-year-old man found in possession of a large amount of child pornography material. The prosecutor’s office in Catania suspects him of grooming, sexual violence, enslavement, dissemination, and possession of child pornography. The investigation started after a mother reported finding conversations on her 12-year-old daughter’s smartphone, revealing that the girl had sent videos and images to a man she met online. Further investigation confirmed the mother’s report and showed that the man had psychologically manipulated the victim into engaging in sexual acts online and causing her harm. The police cybercrime unit identified the suspect, obtained a search warrant from the Catania prosecutor’s office, and seized numerous images and videos of minors being sexually abused. The man was arrested and placed under house arrest.
