Young driver tests positive for alcohol after overturning and destroying car in Alcamo accident

An overturned and destroyed car. Serious damage also to other vehicles parked on the edge of the road. Four young people injured, but fortunately not in serious condition. This is the outcome of the disastrous road accident that occurred last night in Alcamo, on Viale Europa, in a stretch of the south side of the double road artery between Via Aldo Moro and Via Madonna del Riposo. The surveys were carried out by the municipal police, who opened the investigations using also footage recorded by the active CCTV surveillance in the area.
The overturned car is a Bmw 120 which, with four young men on board, was traveling along Viale Europa, heading towards Via Madonna del Riposo. The municipal police, meanwhile, was able to directly verify the effects of the impact of the passing vehicle with another car parked on the side of the road, a semi-destroyed Fiat 500, following the violent collision, while also other parked vehicles suffered damages. The driver of the Bmw, in the meantime, as reported by the municipal police chief, tested positive for alcohol. The crash, very violent, even caused the engine to detach from the car, thrown almost onto the sidewalk ().
Further checks are underway, also using the videos extracted from the fixed cameras installed on the road section where the accident occurred. Another incident in a long series, in Alcamo, after the previous one that occurred in via Vittorio Veneto in the evening of last March 24th, involving six vehicles. In view of the April 25th holiday, just for yesterday the Alcamo municipal police had already announced, a week in advance, that they would carry out electronic speed detection checks, in particular on the provincial roads 47 and 55 connecting the urban center with Alcamo Marina. These road sections, too, are very risky and have already been plagued by accidents, some of them fatal, in the past.
In Alcamo, on Via Madonna del Riposo last September, a motorcyclist crashed into a car. Hospitalized, he died a few weeks later.
