Worker falls from scaffolding in Donnalucata, Sicily, in serious condition

Incidents at work in Sicily do not stop. While mourning the five victims of the Casteldaccia massacre, another worker was seriously injured in the province of Ragusa. The forty-nine-year-old man from Scicli, identified as P.S, was working for a company in the Donnalucata district.

The man was performing some renovation work on a building on via Sanremo when, for reasons still to be determined, he fell from a scaffolding. A terrible fall after which he was reportedly impaled by an iron beam. When the alarm was raised, the 118 emergency services arrived on the scene and provided initial care to the injured man. Due to his condition, the helicopter rescue was immediately requested, landing a few minutes later in the square near the fruit and vegetable market in contrada Spinello, where the worker was transported.

The man was transferred in code red to the Trauma center at Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania. Meanwhile, the carabinieri, officials from the Spresal of the Asp of Ragusa, and municipal police officers also arrived at the scene of the incident. Investigations are ongoing to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident, including verifying the presence of all safety devices.
