Weak explosion at the Southeast crater of Mount Etna

An weak explosion from the Southeast crater of Mount Etna that produced a modest ash emission that quickly dispersed in the summit area was observed late last night, at 10:41 p.m., by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etna Observatory, in Catania. The activity did not impact the operation of Vincenzo Bellini International Airport. As observed in recent days, experts from the INGV note that, currently, the average amplitude of volcanic tremor remains within the average values. The tremor sources are located below the Southeast Crater, at an elevation of about 2,900 meters above sea level. Infrasound signals show no significant variations; infrasound events are exclusively localized at the Southeast crater. Data from the clinometric and Gnss networks show no significant ground deformations.
