Two tankers on fire in Taormina: shadow of intimidation.

Explain in brief the following article:

Two tankers were engulfed in flames in the hamlet of Trappitello, in Taormina, and were completely destroyed. The fire occurred in a private parking lot along the state road 185, where the two heavy vehicles of a company that deals with fuel transportation were parked: the fire spread within a few minutes and involved both tankers that were close to each other. A large column of black smoke rose, inevitably alarming the residents of the area.

The alarm was immediately raised and two teams of firefighters from the provincial command and the local detachment arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. The area was temporarily closed to traffic and secured to allow the authorities to carry out investigations and determine the causes of the fire. A malfunction may have triggered the fire, but a deliberate act is not ruled out. The carabinieri questioned the owners of the company to ascertain if they have recently received any threats.

In this case, the possibility of intimidation is being considered, but the investigations are still ongoing. A few days ago, another incident occurred in the province of Palermo: the van of a company from Santa Cristina Gela, dealing with the trade and transportation of animals destined for slaughter, was targeted. The vehicle was stolen in Altofonte, then the carabinieri started the search and located the Iveco Daily in Misilmeri: it was set on fire and abandoned. The police and firefighters intervened on the scene, launching investigations to identify those responsible.

A similar incident occurred at the end of January in Ragusa. In this case, the vans of a funeral home company were set on fire. The large fire broke out on Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, where the two vehicles were parked: one was completely destroyed, while the other suffered serious damages. When the alarm was raised, a team of firefighters from the provincial command arrived at the scene.
