Two sentenced for bribed votes by bosses in Palermo
Former national parliamentarian Salvatore Ferrigno, 63 years old, offered 5 thousand euros in exchange for at least 200 votes each in the towns of Carini, Torretta, Cinisi, and Terrasini. Giuseppe Lo Duca and Piera Loiacono facilitated this transaction, with Lo Duca being connected to the mafia in Carini. Loiacono acted as an intermediary between Ferrigno and the mafia, and she had previously run for the position of regional president with the support of the “Libertas” Political Movement and the Liberal Socialists. Both Lo Duca and Loiacono have been convicted and sentenced to heavy penalties. Ferrigno, who is also facing charges, will be tried in a separate proceeding.
