Two lambs enter highway, saved by police in Giardini Naxos

The highway patrol of Giardini Naxos saved two lambs that were wandering on the highway among the vehicles on the first of May. The risks to the animals’ safety and also to the safety of the passing vehicles were huge, given the rush hour, the holiday, and the high traffic density. The capture and subsequent safekeeping of the pair of animals was anything but simple.

The officers decided to slow down traffic in “safety car” mode to avoid any risk of being hit. Once intercepted and reassured, the animals were kept inside a highway company van. The subsequent identification by personnel from the Messina Health Agency allowed for their return to the rightful owner who had meanwhile reported them missing.
