He lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, overturning. A dramatic accident occurred along the Messina-Catania highway, where a truck driver was injured. It happened on the viaduct located in the territory of Letojanni, not far from the Taormina junction. When the alarm was raised, the paramedics of the 118 and the fire brigade teams arrived on the scene and extracted the man from the cabin. He was immediately given first aid and then taken to the hospital. His conditions are not considered serious. At the scene of the accident, the highway police officers also arrived and temporarily closed the section to traffic, to allow the intervention of the rescuers and to carry out the surveys. Heavy traffic jams were recorded. Investigations are underway to reconstruct the dynamics. In the same stretch of the Messina-Catania highway, a few weeks ago, another accident occurred which caused a person to be injured. In this case, a forty-nine-year-old driver ended up in the hospital. He was driving a Fiat Panda when he collided with another car driven by an elderly person. Also in that case, the impact had repercussions on the road network, which returned to normal after the vehicles were removed from the carriageway.
