A foreign tourist fell on Vulcano while climbing the crater and ended up in the hospital. He was accompanied by his wife. The vacationer, 55 years old, suffered a suspected knee injury. The alarm was raised by his wife. The rescue team was mobilized and the 118 helicopter with the alpine rescue team intervened. It landed on the runway right next to the main crater and the team, with the doctor and Red Cross volunteers, stabilized the tourist. Carabinieri also intervened.

The helicopter, which had relocated to the Vulcanello runway after the rescue operation was completed, then returned to the crater and departed for Messina with the patient and medical staff to reach Papardo where he was hospitalized.
