Three stolen ancient paintings found in a garage in Aci Castello, ten years after museum theft.

At Aci Castello, the carabinieri have reported a 69-year-old man, who already had a police record, for receiving stolen works of art. The carabinieri searched the man’s home after he was reported by the cultural heritage protection command in Siracusa as a suspicious frequenter of a well-known flea market in Catania. During the search, they found 3 oil paintings with antique frames, worth a total of about 100,000 euros, in the garage of the apartment. With the help of the Tpc unit, which can immediately consult the database of illicitly stolen cultural assets, the three paintings were analyzed and it was discovered that they had been stolen on April 3, 2013 from the civic museum Sebastiano Guzzone in Militello in Val di Catania.
