Carabinieri from Gela and Caltanissetta have shed light on an ambush that occurred in the Bronx neighborhood of Gela, Sicily. Despite the victim’s lack of cooperation, the investigation led to two arrests for attempted murder. The attack took place on June 20, 2022, when a 41-year-old man was shot multiple times near his home. The suspects, Luigi La Cognata and his son-in-law Calogero Pirrone, allegedly carried out the attack due to an ongoing feud between La Cognata’s son and the victim’s brother. The victim survived the attack and underwent surgery. The investigation focused on phone conversations and informal statements made by the victim and his family, leading to the identification of the suspects.
