Syracuse: Fight outside Robinson Park during GioArt, two 16-year-olds injured

First a heated discussion, then a fight. Moments of fear outside the Robinson park in Siracusa, where this morning thousands of students took part in the GioArt Color Festival. Outside the large area where the event took place, a group of young people caused panic.

Two groups of boys are said to have been involved, who kicked and punched for reasons still to be clarified. Two sixteen-year-olds were injured and taken to the emergency room. When the alarm was raised, in fact, paramedics and police arrived on the scene and collected testimonies from the students who witnessed the fight, which was allegedly triggered by young people who were not participating in the event. The police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible.

This is just the latest episode of violence involving young people. The most recent one was only a few days ago in Palermo. A twenty-year-old was beaten in Quintino Sella Street, just a few meters from Via Libertà, in the city center. He was approached by a group of teenagers under the pretext of asking for the time, but he was attacked and ended up in the hospital with a facial injury. The municipal police intervened and then the carabinieri and the police who, in this case too, launched an investigation to track down the aggressors.
