Siracusa, Romano’s murder: thirty-year sentence for boss Attanasio confirmed on appeal

The Court of Appeal of Catania confirmed the first-degree sentence of the judge of the Catania Court and sentenced Alessio Attanasio, a 52-year-old man from Syracuse, to 30 years in prison for murder. He was indicated by the Dda of Catania as the head of the mafia clan that bears his name. Attanasio is accused of the murder of Giuseppe Romano, which occurred in Syracuse in March 2001. According to the prosecution, Attanasio and another person, now deceased, were the ones who acted. In reality, the target was a businessman, but on that day, Giuseppe Romano was driving the car, a Fiat 126, belonging to the businessman. Attanasio has always denied committing the murder.
