Sicily launches all Pnrr tender competitions: Region in talks with Rome.
Explain briefly the following article

“The investments of the NRRP have been underway for some time: at this moment, tendering processes have started, along with renovation works for homes and community hospitals, while all 50 territorial operational centers have already begun. We are really making good progress and the ministry has recognized our work as virtuous.” This was stated by regional Health assessor Giovanna Volo, on the sidelines of the fifty-seventh congress of the Italian Society of Hygiene (Siti), at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
Also present was Health Minister Orazio Schillaci: “We can no longer think in the future of investing only 5% of funds in prevention. We must increase this percentage. The experience of the pandemic and a profound revision of our National Health Service cannot ignore the reorganization of territorial medicine. This represents the care setting that, in a more efficient and effective way, can truly respond to the new and growing health needs. Today, thanks to the NRRP, we have the opportunity to accelerate the introduction of technologies and artificial intelligence into our facilities. These are new opportunities that can make a difference in terms of timely, precise, and accurate diagnoses for citizens and provide great support for the medical scientific community. These are ambitious challenges but, thanks to the work we are carrying out, they are within our reach.”
Regarding prevention, Schillaci focused on influenza vaccinations: “The results of the last campaign show a lack of interest from the general population, but the most significant data that deserves attention concerns the coverage of the elderly, who are among the most vulnerable people, which has decreased by 3.4% compared to the previous season. It is important to protect the most vulnerable subjects, as you well know, and maintain the vaccination coverage that in Italy, as in many other countries, is below the recommended minimum threshold. In order to ensure a greater active offer, especially to at-risk individuals, and facilitate timely participation in the campaign, at the beginning of October we indicated to the regions the need to promote maximum synergy between prevention departments, general practitioners, pediatricians, and pharmacies.”
The commitment to an increase in funds was positively welcomed by the president of the Italian Society of Hygiene: “Thank you, Minister,” said Roberta Siquilini, “we take your word for it and we truly hope that the current 5% allocated to prevention will become 7% next year.” “One cannot do without”
