The standoff between the government and the opposition continued until midnight in the Budget Committee of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, where the examination of the stability bill will resume this morning. The deadlock was broken around 10 pm, leading to the approval of some articles, including the re-writing of article 18. However, the opposition attacked the government over this norm, accusing them of shifting the responsibility of fire prevention onto mayors and pressuring them to create off-budget debts. The government, on the other hand, stated that they have secured the key pillars of the stability law and are committed to examining the financial measures at the Sicilian Regional Assembly, in line with their promises to the Sicilian people. The examination of the bill will continue today at 11:30 am.
