Sculptor Girolamo Ciulla from Caltanissetta dies after living in Versilia since 1986

Sculptor Girolamo Ciulla, 70, passed away in Villa Ciocchetti healthcare facility in Pietrasanta (Lucca). Originally from Caltanissetta, he had been living and working in Pietrasanta since 1986, specializing in travertine. He was awarded honorary citizenship by the municipality in April and his passing was announced by the town. Mayor Stefano Giovannetti expressed his condolences, recalling Ciulla’s generosity and collaboration on a sculpture fountain, “Acqua di Afrodite,” inaugurated last year. The mayor has agreed to the family’s request to bury Ciulla in the cemetery’s area for distinguished citizens, alongside artists Fernando Botero and Igor Mitoraj.
