Scam of car mirror attempted in Siracusa highway: suspects reported

Two men, who had carried out the “mirror trick”, have been reported for aggravated fraud. The highway police stopped them on the Syracuse-Catania highway after they had cheated a 65-year-old woman.

The victim was traveling in her car and, after overtaking another vehicle inside a tunnel, the occupants of the car they had just overtaken urged her to stop. At the rest area, the woman was approached by a man who reported damage to the rearview mirror caused by contact between the two cars during the overtaking maneuver.

The woman accepted the request for immediate compensation to avoid involvement of the insurance companies when a highway patrol stopped the two men who had tried to escape.
