San Vito Lo Capo welcomes back the Tempuricapuna event.

The tenth edition of Tempuricapuna, a festival dedicated to the lampuga fish, will take place from October 6th to 8th in San Vito Lo Capo. The event celebrates the lampuga, a Mediterranean fish with great nutritional properties. The program includes tastings, meetings, cooking shows, and performances, providing a weekend to explore the taste and traditions of this pelagic fish. The festival is organized by the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo in collaboration with the agency Feedback. The event aims to attract tourists during the low season and promote the culture and consumption of the lampuga fish, as well as showcase the local fishing and cooking traditions. The festival features cooking shows and a talk show in a beautiful location on the beach, accompanied by musical and entertainment performances. Visitors can also enjoy tastings organized by local fishermen and the Pro loco association, featuring various lampuga dishes. Additionally, there will be free cooking shows and educational meetings. The festival concludes with a parade and a performance by the Folkloristic Group Cala Bukuto. The lampuga fish, also known as capone, is a pelagic fish found in the Mediterranean. It is caught and consumed fresh from August to December. The fish lives close to the seabed and rises to the surface in September. Its name comes from its distinctive head shape.
