Riesi, eleven years with the “lady of Cosa Nostra”

The verdict has been upheld by the Italian Court of Cassation, and the “Lady of Cosa Nostra” has been sentenced to 11 years in prison. The Supreme Court deemed her appeal inadmissible and she will remain in prison for association with the mafia and extortion. Maria Catena Cammarata, 69, was found guilty and has been in custody since her arrest five years ago in connection with a major police operation against mafia activities. She is linked to the Cammarata clan and her brothers are already serving prison sentences for similar crimes.
