Preparations underway for Cronoscalata Val D’Anapo-Sortino race

This morning, the Val D’Anapo-Sortino hill climb race was presented in the conference hall of the Aci in Siracusa. The event will take place on June 1st and 2nd along the winding roads of Siracusa. The event was attended by the president of the Automobile Club, Pietro Romano, the mayor of Siracusa, Francesco Italia, and the mayors of Melilli and Sortino. Also present were the councilor of Sortino for legality and the hill climb, Sofio Murè, and the president of the hill climb commission AciSport, Alessandro Battaglia.

“This year as well – explained the vice president of Siracusa Promotor sport, Sergio Imbrò, who organizes the automotive event – there will be the solidarity event ‘All on track’ for the disabled (on Friday, May 31st), while the technical-sporting checks of the cars will take place in the historic center of Sortino. We expect significant numbers and we will try to exceed the 165 participants of the previous edition. There will also be a large number of safety measures along the track, with over 110 course marshals, 5 ambulances with onboard doctors, and 4 tow trucks to move the cars.

At the starting line will be the Melilli pilot Luigi Fazzino (winner in 2021 and 2022) and the Ragusa native Samuele Cassibba, who won the 2023 edition. “The track is really beautiful and competitive – said Cassibba – we had to participate in a race abroad that coincided with the Val D’Anapo-Sortino, but we chose the latter.” The Val D’Anapo-Sortino Cup is valid for the Italian mountain speed championship south and twin-cylinder, as well as for the Sicilian championship of historic-modern cars.
