Police raid at Catania fish market, illegal sellers flee

Over 20 counters checked, more than 120 kilograms of untraceable fish products seized and fines imposed for over 5 thousand euros. This is the result of a control operation by the carabinieri in the fish market of Catania. The checks were carried out by the military of the Piazza Dante company and the local police, with the support of the Nas, the Asp of the city of Catania and the patrols of the XII Carabinieri Regiment Sicilia.

During the operation, numerous crates containing shrimp, prawns, octopus, sea bream, hake and spider crabs displayed on small counters in Piazza Alonzo di Benedetto were also seized, abandoned by sellers who fled.
