Patisserie owner in Catania reported for presence of cockroaches and rat droppings

The Carabinieri Provincial Command of Catania, the Piazza Dante station, and the Nas, have reported the owner of a historic bar-pastry shop on via Etnea for violations in the hygiene-sanitary sector. According to what was revealed, military personnel found the food production and storage laboratory in a very poor maintenance state.

The premises showed traces of grease and previous dirt, and there were mouse droppings. Among the ready-made foods and the 1,800 bottles of milk and various cans, the Carabinieri found the presence of cockroaches. In light of these violations, the goods, more than 500 kg of sweets and ready-made roast, 100 kg of ice cream, and all beverages, were criminally seized and the activity was suspended, while the owner, a 54-year-old from Catania, was reported to the Judiciary Authority.
