Palermo’s Big Scam: Owner of Camper with Coffins on Roof Among Suspects

For months, a camper parked in the center of Palermo with two coffins on the roof and the words “condemned to death by the Sicilian petrol mafia” and “4 lawyers” on the sides, has caught attention. The owner of the vehicle, Giuseppe Barone, 65, who has never explained the meaning behind the writings on the camper, is among the entrepreneurs investigated by the European Prosecutor’s Office (Eppo) prosecutors Amelia Luise and Gery Ferrara for a scam involving false invoices to the EU, which has led to 7 restrictive measures today. The camper, which will be seized, is now parked near the courthouse.
