Palermo: Sinkhole on Bailey bridge over River Oreto, traffic closed.

A hole suddenly opened this morning on the Bailey bridge, along the Oreto river in Palermo, in the center of the roadway. Traffic went crazy, cars lined up. Emergency teams were sent to the site by the municipal assessor for Public Works, Totò Orlando. The asphalt, redone less than a year ago, is shattered. Probably one of the beams supporting the structure has moved, creating a section too fragile for vehicle passage.

The passage was then closed around 4:30 pm, with a team of municipal police guarding the bridge.
