Palermo municipal police control seizes illegal pub and nightclub: fines over 30,000 euros.

The municipal police, last weekend, for the usual checks in the nightlife venues, intervened in the streets Maqueda, Bari, and Piazzetta della Messinese, where they seized an illegal pub and a nightclub, lacking the requirements required by administrative and fiscal regulations, and confiscated more than 7,000 alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in two mini markets. Fines for over 30 thousand euros.

In the pub in Piazzetta della Messinese, at the time of the inspection, serious and evident hygienic, sanitary, and structural deficiencies were highlighted, and the food and beverage serving activity in assisted mode at the counter and tables was carried out without the certified notification of the start of the activity. Also missing were the health certification and the VAT number. Therefore, the administrative precautionary seizure of the premises and equipment was carried out. The owner was fined approximately 13 thousand euros.

Also in Piazzetta della Messinese, municipal police officers seized an illegal nightclub, whose owner did not have the license from the police commissioner, the certificate of suitability issued by the municipal commission for the supervision of public entertainment venues, and the documentation related to fire prevention. At the time of the inspection, the music entertainment was carried out with a professional amplification sound system connected to a mixer, with music diffusion managed by two DJs, while the approximately 130 attendees, who had paid an extra fee for consumption, remained inside the nightclub, in a dance space of less than 30 square meters.

Operators struggled to enter the establishment, given the crowd of customers, interrupting the ongoing activity and slowly draining all the customers outside. The immovable property, lighting, sound amplification, and diffusion equipment were provisionally seized, and the owner was reported.

Checks continued in the streets Maqueda and Bari, where officers inspected two mini markets. In both activities, although prohibited by the municipal regulations, the owners were serving and selling alcoholic and super-alcoholic beverages for takeaway in glass containers and cans, beyond 22.00, to numerous customers, all identified. And they were unlawfully carrying out the activity of serving drinks at the counter in assisted mode.

In addition to the serious hygienic and sanitary deficiencies in both premises, the owners were unlawfully using the toilet space as a storage area for food and beverages and were failing to display the prices of the merchandise to the public. The administrative precautionary seizure of all beverages from the two commercial premises was carried out, totaling almost 5 thousand alcoholic and super-alcoholic beverages in glass containers and over 2 thousand and three hundred alcoholic beverages in cans. The owners were fined more than 10 thousand euros each. Subsequently, with an order from the SUAP, an accessory sanction will be applied with the forced closure of the two activities for 5 days.
