Palermo man swallows 10 heroin capsules to evade police, caught and arrested
The mobile team of Palermo has arrested a 34-year-old Nigerian man, caught in the act, on charges of possession for drug dealing. According to the reconstruction provided, the police officers noticed a man in Ballarò who, at the sight of them, fled through the narrow streets of the market. During these hectic phases, the officers noticed that the man ingested ten capsules, which were later found, after medical examinations, to likely be heroin.
After apprehending him, the investigations revealed that the Nigerian man had 775 euros on him, which he could not justify the possession of. Believing that the man could be involved in drug dealing, the officers searched the Nigerian’s home and found 15 heat-sealed cellophane packages of a substance likely to be heroin weighing a total of 185 grams, a precision scale, a blender soaked in drugs, a sum of money amounting to 1,700 euros, and packaging material in the kitchen cabinet.
The drugs and money found, considered to be proceeds of drug dealing, were seized, while the Nigerian citizen was arrested. The measure was later validated by the judicial authority, which ordered pre-trial detention in prison.
