Palermo coach Corini after defeat: “Painful moment but Serie A playoffs still possible”

“Venezia deserved to win, we are devastated but now we must overcome this pain”. Devastated, disappointed Eugenio Corini after his Palermo’s heavy defeat, at the Renzo Barbera, against the Venetians. Second place has now faded and the fans (27,058 today in the stands) booed at the end of the match. The Brescia coach gathered strength for the continuation of the championship: “The boos hurt but I must accept them, it’s my job. It’s a painful moment, I understand the disappointment and feel the trust of players and the club. The championship offers the opportunity to go to Serie A also with the playoffs: the road to direct promotion has become more complicated for us.”.

In thirty minutes, Venezia turned off Palermo’s attempts, which had not even started the match badly. Thus Genio analyzed the two goals conceded in the first half: “The first goal we received is a change of play where we knew we had to close. On the second, there was a misunderstanding between the two central defenders. From an offensive point of view, we produced but they defended well. There was a gap but not as clear as the result certifies”.
