#Palermo
A mafia boss in Italy, Salvatore Sorrentino, has been found to be running his organization from prison using video calls during the COVID-19 pandemic. He gave orders on various aspects of the criminal activities, such as selling flowers near cemeteries, opening gambling centers, and distributing funds for the families of inmates. His son, Vincenzo, assisted him in carrying out these orders. Other individuals, including Leonardo Marino and Giovanni Cancemi, were also implicated in the investigation. The operation, named “Villaggio di famiglia,” led to the arrest of 25 members of the mafia clan and the seizure of assets.
