Palermitana Barbera wins Sofy Award again with Lorenzo Oil no. 1

The Palermo olive oil entrepreneur Manfredi Barbera once again wins the Sofy Award with Lorenzo number 1, becoming the first Italian olive oil company to win the prestigious golden statuette two years in a row. The Sofy Award is a competition organized by the Specialty Food Association of New York, which since 1952 has been dedicated to promoting agricultural excellence in the United States. The Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, also celebrated this achievement by visiting Barbera’s stand at the New York fair, congratulating him as a Sicilian excellence in the world.

“It is a prize that fills us with pride – comments Manfredi Barbera – because entering the history of the Sofy Award with the consecutive victory of our Lorenzo number 1 is the result of hard work, sacrifice, and above all of those who have always invested in innovation, sustainability, while remaining anchored to our tradition and identity. A recognition that is special for us because it coincides with an important anniversary, namely the 130 years of the company. Reaching the top of the world with one of our products is the best gift we could have expected to celebrate this historic milestone.”

The winning oil is a monocultivar of Cerasuola obtained from organic olives in the territory of the Dop Valli Trapanesi production, one of the most prestigious Sicilian Dop. It offers an extra virgin oil with an intense fruity flavor, with a fragrance reminiscent of fresh fruit, and a pleasant almond aftertaste.
