Palermitan killer of Messina couple sentenced to psychiatric clinic in England

22-year-old Andrea Cardinale, originally from Palermo, has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in a psychiatric clinic. He confessed to killing the Sicilian couple, Nino Calabrò and Francesca Di Dio, in England on December 22nd. Cardinale pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The judge described his actions as a manifestation of his paranoid schizophrenia, which is supported by his internet searches and general behavior. Cardinale attacked Nino with a bat, then chased Francesca, ultimately killing both of them. He attempted to set fire to the apartment but was unsuccessful.
