Over 100 kilograms of fish products seized in Agrigento, checks on fish markets and restaurants

Over one hundred kilograms of seafood products have been seized in fish markets and restaurants in Agrigento. During some checks carried out by the specialized carabinieri of the nature anticrime center in Agrigento, untraceable fish in poor condition was found. Inspections were carried out together with the veterinary service of the Asp of Agrigento in the district of Sciacca.
The seafood products, which would have yielded 2,800 euros once sold, were placed under seizure and administrative fines totaling over 11,000 euros were issued. Furthermore, the destruction of the goods was ordered at the expense of the operators, who must follow the existing regulations.
During the checks, the military also provided the operators with the correct indications regarding the proper tracking of food, waste, and the indications required by law in the provision of food to the public, particularly on labeling allergens and ingredients.
