Noto and Avola: Three reported in street controls, two for drunk driving and one with gun possession.
The carabinieri in Noto carried out checks on over 40 vehicles and identified 56 people. The checks, which took place in Noto and Avola, revealed violations of the highway code, including failure to use a helmet, driving without insurance or a valid inspection. Two drivers were reported to the local authorities for driving under the influence, and a 31-year-old was found in possession of a modified blank-firing pistol and a bat. In total, fines of around 2,000 euros were issued, 45 points were deducted from driving licenses, 2 vehicles were seized, and 7 were subject to administrative detention. In addition, one person was reported to the local prefecture as a drug user. These checks are part of the “A Helmet Saves a Life” road safety project, promoted by the provincial command of the carabinieri of Syracuse, aimed at raising awareness among young people about helmet use and preventing and combating traffic violations.
