No bicycles or scooters allowed in Via Maqueda and Via Vittorio Emanuele in Palermo

The sustainable mobility office of the Municipality of Palermo has issued an ordinance to regulate traffic along Via Maqueda and Via Vittorio Emanuele, prohibiting the passage of bicycles and electric scooters. The ordinance also establishes a central lane free of obstacles for emergency vehicles and authorized vehicles in pedestrian areas. It requires electric scooters and bicycles to be pushed by hand to avoid accidents. Rental companies must deactivate or reduce the speed of their vehicles, and law enforcement will enforce the rules. The goal is to eliminate conflicts and promote the safety and attractiveness of these pedestrian areas. Future urban regeneration measures will also be implemented to enhance the beauty and safety of these important streets.
