Regular ferry connections have resumed to and from the Aeolian Islands, allowing residents and tourists to access necessary supplies such as food and fuel. The mayor of the islands, Riccardo Gullo, expressed relief at the end of the difficulties caused by bureaucratic complications. Contracts for Caronte & Tourist, the ferry company, have been extended until September for transportation services to the islands. Negotiations for other routes are still ongoing. This development brings hope for a return to normalcy and improved access to the smaller islands in the Mediterranean.
