Nightmare night for bus driver in Palermo: punched by a group of teenagers

Explain in brief the following article:

Yet another aggression against Amat personnel in Palermo. The night bus driver was targeted this time, as he reported being punched by a group of young people. The violence erupted in the area of Piazza Tommaso Natale, when some members of the gang approached the driver and attacked him.

The rest of the group then delivered more punches, and the victim had to stop the bus and call 112 for help. He went to the emergency room at Villa Sofia hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation to identify the perpetrators of this latest attack on public transport in the city. Surveillance camera footage from the bus is also being reviewed for possible clues to track down the baby gang.

A few months ago, a similar incident occurred: a group of young people assaulted and insulted an Amat driver who intervened to defend a disabled woman targeted by the gang. The bus was on Via Antonino Cassarà when the group of teenagers boarded the vehicle. They started teasing the disabled woman. The driver stopped the bus and told the teenagers to stop bothering the passengers. In response, he was punched and spat on. The teenagers activated the emergency brake, managed to open a door, and escape. The carabinieri are investigating to identify the perpetrators of the assault.

In February, there was also a hailstorm against another bus traveling on the streets of Brancaccio. Another group of teenagers started throwing dozens of stones, breaking two windows. A few weeks ago, even the security guard aboard the tram was targeted: he asked for a passenger’s ticket, and the passenger reacted by throwing a punch.
