Nigerian man arrested in Trapani for attempting to kidnap a child

The carabinieri of Trapani arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian for the crimes of attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of weapons. Witnesses alerted the military to an assault outside the Don Bosco nursery school near the train station. The prompt intervention of the military allowed them to stop the Nigerian as he was trying to take a pregnant compatriot’s young child. After providing medical attention to the woman, the carabinieri searched the man and found an axe and a nearly 30-centimeter illegal knife in his backpack. He was immediately placed in custody and taken to the local prison.
