New cat shelter in Paceco: “Working for the welfare culture of animals”
A wooden shelter has been built in Paceco (Trapani province) for the two cat colonies, recognized by the municipality and ASP and entrusted to a local citizen. This initiative is part of the animal welfare activities promoted by the municipal council of Paceco. The mayor and the councilor emphasize the importance of collaboration with associations and volunteers in consolidating good practices and combating strays. The shelter, located near the municipal cemetery, was made possible thanks to volunteers and an association addressing the physiological and ethological needs of the animals. This has significantly reduced the number of captured dogs and established a sterilization and microchipping program for all free-roaming dogs in the area. The mayor highlights the need to promote a culture of environmental and animal welfare protection and to encourage responsibility and respect for rules among all citizens.
