New attorney general D’Anna takes office in Caltanissetta
Fabio D’Anna has been installed today as the Chief Prosecutor at the Court of Caltanissetta, returning to the judicial offices after serving as a prosecutor in Ragusa. The ceremony was presided over by Maria Grazia Vagliasindi, the President of the Court of Appeal in Caltanissetta. D’Anna had previously served for four years in Caltanissetta as Deputy Chief Prosecutor before leading the office in Ragusa, and now returning to what was once known as the “graveyard of elephants.” D’Anna stated that he has only fulfilled his duty to society and will continue the work of his predecessors. He also highlighted the battle fought in 2015 to prevent the closure of the Caltanissetta Court of Appeal and expressed his gratitude for the support of the local bar. The ceremony was attended by other prominent prosecutors, including Carmelo Zuccaro of Catania and Lia Sava of Palermo. D’Anna acknowledged the demanding nature of the Chief Prosecutor role, particularly in Caltanissetta where the workload is high and resources are limited. However, with the recent appointment of a fifth prosecutor, he hopes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the office.
