Nas suspends dining in two schools in Agrigento province and fines two restaurants in Palermo
The Carabinieri of the Nas have suspended two catering activities in two school buildings in the province of Agrigento. These measures were taken as part of a series of checks carried out in the provinces of Palermo, Agrigento, and Trapani, which led to the overall seizure of 640 kilograms of food. In addition, fines of 30,500 euros were imposed. During some of these checks, two restaurants in Palermo were also fined for failing to comply with Haccp procedures in the handling of food, as well as for the absence of an updated health registration, irregularities that led to the seizure of 17 kilograms of goods and fines of 4,000 euros. In a butcher’s shop, 40 kilograms of untraceable meat were seized. In a fry shop and a restaurant, a premises was found to have been arbitrarily used as a food storage area without health authorization. In two catering establishments, the presence of allergenic ingredients was not properly indicated on the menus and food descriptions. 25 kilograms of food were seized for non-compliance with traceability regulations, and fines totaling 7,500 euros were imposed. Finally, the Carabinieri discovered an unauthorized mobile fish products vendor. During the inspection, 30 kilograms of untraceable fish were seized, and fines of 2,500 euros were imposed.
