Minors bought alcohol at vending machine in Termini Imerese, activity suspended for three months

Excessive alcohol up to 40 degrees sold to minors through vending machines: the police verified this in Termini Imerese and proceeded to suspend the operation for three months. The vending machines dispensed alcoholic beverages without the necessary optical reading of personal data to determine the age of the buyers, and there was no staff member in charge of monitoring. The purchase was potentially allowed even for minors: the police immediately took action to locate the operator, who had their alcohol serving permit suspended immediately for three months. “The promptness of the intervention and the speed of the reports to the competent authorities operating in the area – says the police – prevented the recurrence of serious misconduct against public health, especially in protecting minors, also putting a stop to gatherings and disturbances in the evening and night hours often associated with these 24-hour operations.”
