Mimmo Cuticchio at Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome with Histoire du Soldat

The Figli d’Arte Cuticchio Company is flying to Rome for two performances of “Histoire du Soldat”, which will be staged at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone on Sunday, May 5th. The show, directed by Mimmo Cuticchio, will be performed at 11 am and 6 pm in the Sala Petrassi (673 seats) with the special soundtrack of the Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble conducted by Tonino Battista.

The music by Igor Stravinsky with a libretto by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, performed live by the orchestra of the auditorium, will enhance the magic of a fable that juxtaposes the malevolent actions of the devil with the innocence of a naive soldier who, carrying an old violin played with passion and feeling, only desires to spend his two weeks of leave at home with his mother and his true love.

As the story unfolds in a poetic narrative, Mimmo Cuticchio’s voice and the variations of his expressiveness intertwine with the rhythms of the Sicilian puppet theater tradition.

The only living practitioner with two honorary degrees: the first awarded to him in 2022 by the University of Rome Three, in Theater, Music, and Dance; the second in Italian Studies, in March of last year, by the University of Palermo, Cuticchio continues his journey with his puppets, taking them around the world.

This year, after being a guest of honor at the International Puppet Festival in Tunis, now it’s Rome’s turn.

“An enchanting journey,” says Cuticchio, “even though sometimes difficult; an adventure that I live with the spirit of an eternal student, always curious and eager to face new challenges. A journey that began as a child in the world of puppets, where I was born and raised with my father Giacomo, my mother Pina Patti, my brothers and sisters. In all, seven children and seven hundred puppets. A path that today, on the eve of the forty-first edition of the La Macchina dei Sogni festival, continues with my son Giacomo and my wife Elisa Puleo, the irreplaceable admiral of the Company!”
