In Palermo, aid to families who had to leave their homes due to the wildfires on July 23rd has been extended. Mayor Roberto Lagalla has decided that those forced to rent a home will continue to receive assistance. Accommodation has also been confirmed for six families, totaling 18 people, who were displaced from Via Erice and housed in temporary residences. Investigations are ongoing by municipal technicians and the Department of Engineering at the university into the properties affected by the fires. Assistance measures were activated after the regional government declared a state of emergency on July 26th for twelve months. Resources for continued assistance will come from a reserve fund for a maximum of 48 thousand euros. Meanwhile, citizens are still waiting for compensation from the national Civil Protection.
