245 migrants arrived in Lampedusa after being rescued by three Coast Guard speedboats and one from Frontex. They were traveling on a 20-meter fishing boat from Zuara, Libya, which almost sank due to rough seas. The refugees, originating from Syria, Pakistan, Egypt, and Bangladesh, stated that they paid between $2,000 and $5,000 each for the journey. They have been taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot, where there are currently 251 people. As per the Prefecture of Agrigento’s orders, 150 of them will be transferred to Porto Empedocle in the morning by a regular ferry.
