Maxi cable from Sardinia to Sicily crosses house in Termini Imerese, construction site halted by Tar
The article explains that, following a citizen’s petition in Termini Imerese, the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (Tar) has halted part of the construction site for the West branch of the Tyrrhenian Link Sardegna-Sicilia-Continente maxi cable project.
The project involves the expropriation of a house in Termini Imerese, which led to legal action being taken to contest the expropriation. The Tar Lazio issued an urgent decree suspending the expropriation related to one of the many parcels involved in the construction works, which includes the woman’s house.
The court ordered a halt to the construction site, specifically the demolition of the woman’s property. However, construction activities that do not interfere with the woman’s house may continue.
The construction works involve the construction of the Caracoli Conversion Station in Termini Imerese and the burial of 6 power lines for a total of 3.75 kilometers. The halt will remain in place until at least October 23, when the Tar will make a decision on the suspension.
In response, Terna, the company managing the project, stated that they are awaiting the Tar Lazio’s decision and that construction activities on land owned by Terna are ongoing. However, no activities have been carried out on the parcels not currently owned by the company.
