Maurizio Schillaci, cousin of Italy ’90 striker Totò, in critical condition at Palermo hospital
Former footballer Maurizio Schillaci, 62 years old and cousin of the famous striker Totò Schillaci, is currently in critical condition due to tuberculosis. The news comes just a few weeks after the tragic death of Totò on September 18 due to cancer.
In recent years, Maurizio has been living in a car and has started to show serious symptoms, including high fever. After attending the funeral of his cousin, he decided to undergo medical checks, which revealed the diagnosis of tuberculosis.
He is currently hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the Civico Hospital in Palermo, where he is undergoing intensive antibiotic therapy, but his condition remains very serious. In the past, Maurizio played for Licata under Zeman and Lazio in 1986, but now he is facing the toughest battle of his life. A serious injury and several unfortunate circumstances have hindered his football career, and he is still remembered as an untapped talent.
