Man blocked at Messina docks with 600,000 euros, reported

The financial police, during checks at the docks in Messina, reported a man from Calabria for money laundering and receiving stolen goods and seized about 600 thousand euros in cash of illicit origin. The unusually agitated behavior of the driver aroused suspicion, and with the help of a sniffer dog, an impressive amount of cash was discovered hidden in a bag in the car’s trunk. The bundles of cash, in various euro denominations, were wrapped in transparent film and packaging tape. The driver, a member of a family benefiting from the Citizen’s Income, unemployed and without any source of income, could not justify the possession of such a large sum of money, thus the banknotes were seized.
