Italy’s nationwide crackdown on migrant trafficking and labor exploitation includes Marsala and Mazara.

The Italian police carried out a series of searches and checks in multiple provinces against the exploitation of irregular immigrant labor. The operation involved Trapani, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Cuneo, Foggia, Latina, Matera, Prato, and Reggio Calabria. The police focused on areas where illegal immigrant labor exploitation is prevalent, such as agricultural businesses, factories, and commercial enterprises. Over 300 police officers were involved in the operation, resulting in 13 arrests, 1673 people identified, 264 with criminal records, and the seizure of drugs. The operation targeted businesses managed by Chinese and North African entrepreneurs in Prato and Latina, as well as operations in Cuneo, Foggia, and Reggio Calabria. It aimed to combat the exploitation of illegal immigrant labor in various sectors across the country.
