Italian railway network and Webuild complete rail laying between Bicocca and Catenanuova
The article explains the ongoing railway works in Sicily by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group). The completion of laying 38 km of double railway tracks from Bicocca to Catenanuova has been completed as part of the new Palermo-Catania connection project. This project involves double tracks in some sections and a new fast track in others, as well as the elimination of existing level crossings. The investment for this project is approximately 508 million euros and involves around 350 workers. The overall project aims to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of railway transportation, reducing travel times and promoting sustainable mobility. The works are part of the larger project to modernize the Palermo-Catania-Messina railway route, with a total investment of about 12 billion euros. In addition to the works in Sicily, Webuild is also involved in other strategic railway projects in Italy and Europe.
