Isab Priolo signs decree for production continuity: now the adaptation of purification plants

The Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has signed a decree to address the environmental issues related to the Isab facilities in Priolo Gargallo. The decree outlines measures to balance the need for productive continuity with the goals of employment protection, workplace safety, and environmental preservation. The Isab facilities must ensure compliance with emission limits for metals in wastewater, while the Ias and Priolo Servizi consortia must meet annual limits for parameters related to total hydrocarbons, phenols, and organic solvents. Within 36 months, Isab and Priolo Servizi must make necessary modifications to their wastewater treatment plants and implement measures for water reuse. The regional government of Sicily is responsible for coordinating the necessary funding, planning, and implementation of these projects. A technical committee has been established to support the government’s efforts.
