Investigations into the massacre at Casteldaccia, one of the survivors: “The company owner went down first, then I heard cries for help”

The article recounts the tragic incident in Casteldaccia where 5 workers lost their lives while attempting a maintenance task in an underground facility. The first to go down into the facility was Epifanio Alsazia, the company owner, who was highly respected by his employees. Despite the contract not requiring him to personally intervene, he did so regularly when needed. Other employees also rushed to help, but tragically lost their lives as well.

The survivors will have to explain why the owner went down into the tank and if this had happened before. One of the survivors, Paolo Sciortino, mentioned hearing a cry for help and approaching the scene, emphasizing the importance of safety equipment in such interventions.

Another colleague described the incident as unexpected, as they regularly worked on similar projects without any issues. The company, Quadrifoglio Group, is known for its focus on safety and regularly provides safety equipment for its employees. The investigation will determine if the workers were wearing the proper protective gear during the incident.
